Member Feature: Meet Martin Glegg, Founding Partner and Executive of Wallop Film

Meet Martin Glegg, Founding Partner and Executive of Wallop Film

Martin was born and raised in the rural countryside of Aberdeen, Scotland. As a child, he was first introduced to filmmaking when his father brought home a camcorder he used for work on weekends. Inspired, Martin began creating short films, quickly honing his craft and recognizing his talent.

He began his career in the film industry starting with working for the BBC in Scotland. When the opportunity arose to move to Canada in 2013, he eagerly seized it. In Canada, he joined Wallop, a digital marketing agency specializing in luxury hospitality. Soon after, he played a key role in co-founding Wallop Film.

As a filmmaker, Martin has the opportunity to shoot in various locations around the world, including French Polynesia, Thailand, and an upcoming project being filmed in Fiji. While international shoots aren’t regular, his work often takes him on amazing adventures. One of his most memorable projects was filming the wildebeest migration in Tanzania and Kenya. Through Wallop Film’s partnership with Destinations Canada, he has also had the chance to explore every major city in the country.

Beyond the travel and breathtaking locations, Martin enjoys the complexity and individuality of each project his company undertakes. Filmmaking is a highly collaborative process, and with a strong network of different cinematographers, directors, and editors, they can tailor each team to best bring a client’s vision to life.

Recently, Wallop Film has made a documentary titled The Chef & The Daruma, which has been nominated for numerous awards and has won the Audience Award at the Vancouver International Film Festival.

In his free time, Martin enjoys exploring filmmaking beyond work, bringing new stories to life. When he’s not behind the camera, he loves unwinding with a good book and a cup of coffee.
