Member Feature: Ryder Britton, Founder and Head of Growth at Velocity Bolting

Meet Ryder Britton, Founder and Head of Growth at Velocity Bolting:

Ryder grew up around Toronto, Ontario, where he lived until the age of 15 before moving to the coast of Lake Huron. After finishing high school, he went on to study theatrical arts at George Brown Theatre School. Introduced to acting at a young age, Ryder was inspired by his mother, a professional actress, and the legacy she left behind. Eventually, he chose to step away from the entertainment industry and returned to university, earning a Bachelor of Science from the University of Guelph.

Ryder was introduced to the energy industry through his work with Integra Technologies, a company that services and sells products for critical piping systems. He began his career in an inside sales role before moving into outside sales, and before long, he was leading marketing for the company’s North American offices.

He took a year to complete his MBA at Ivey Business School, Western University, graduating as class valedictorian. Ryder then returned to Integra as Director of Marketing and Strategy, playing a key role in guiding the company through a merger and acquisition to one of Europe’s largest private equity funds, Bridgepoint. Following the acquisition, he joined the leadership team of the acquiring PortCo company, Flexitallic, as their Global Head of Marketing and Strategy.

Eventually, he returned to Integra to lead their products division, during which time he acquired the intellectual property for one of their products, the Velocity Washer. Inspired by his experience, Ryder founded Velocity Bolting, built around their patented product, the Velocity Washer, which addresses an engineering issue known as galling.

Originally focused on niche markets like oil, petrochemical, and power generation, the product has strong potential in many other industries, including hydrogen, mining, and defense. As Head of Growth, Ryder is focused on expanding awareness and introducing the solution to new markets where it’s still largely unknown. He sees the potential to scale the product and solve a wider range of problems across more industries than ever before.

Outside of work, Ryder enjoys spending time with his two daughters, staying active, reading, and taking trips to Whistler with his family. If you see him around the office, be sure to say hello!
